Through the month of October, we celebrated Black History Month at Quarrydale.

We raised £840.25 by holding a non uniform day on Wear Red Day - the proceeds have gone to Show Racism The Red Card (the biggest anti-racism education charity in the UK).
Students were set a challenge to complete a Black History Month Project and some of their work is on display in school - you can also see a sample here(attach image files).

Congratulations to Amelia (8R) who has won the Gold Award for Independent Learning; Silver goes to Daisy(9A) and Noa (9Q); and Bronze to George (7Q). Thanks also to Jayden and Josh for the work they produced. Accolades have been awarded on ePraise and all students will receive Big Respects from Mr. Paling.

Hope this inspires more students to get involved with our next project - Human Rights (check your emails or see Miss Toon for details.)

Yesterday I had the pleasure of assisting our winners of the Ryman challenge back in March to compete in the National Enterprise Challenge at Wembley arena.

The whole experience was fantastic from start to end, the highlight for most seeing the stadium and having the Diversity dance group as the hosts as well as seeing Theo Paphitis.

Thank you to Mrs Dellar for organising this fantastic event and giving our students this opportunity.

Unfortunately the year 8's didn't win but gave a fantastic pitch, which I had the pleasure of watching. Well done to Liza , Emmy , Amelia and Lucy r for all their efforts.

Thanks,
Mrs R Clay
Head of Year 8.
